“Can I get a quote?” is a good start. If you run a cleaning or trade business, your next question should help you decide what happens next. A long form can wait.

Start with the basics

Ask for a name, preferred reply method, service, city, a short description and preferred timing. Then add only the details that affect your next step.

  • Cleaning: one-time or recurring, approximate size, and areas needing attention
  • Trades: the task, relevant equipment, and optional photos the customer can take safely
  • Either: whether a visit is needed before you can give a reliable estimate

Make the request easy to answer

Hypothetical example: a Lancaster customer asks about a move-out clean. You ask for the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, the preferred date, and whether the home will be empty. Those answers help you choose between a follow-up call and a visit.

On your website, label optional questions and explain the next step. Keep entry codes and other private access details out of the initial request.

Copy this message

Thanks for reaching out! What service do you need, what city is the job in, and when are you hoping to have it done? Please add a short description and the best way to reply. For [service], it also helps to know [one useful detail]. I’ll review that and let you know the next step.

Try one small step

Look at one recent inquiry. Add one question that would have helped, or remove one you didn’t need.
