Five mobile website checks before you share your link

Try your site on your own phone and check whether a customer can understand the service and contact you.

Before you share your website in a message or local group, open it on your phone. For cleaning and trade businesses, the useful test is simple: can a new customer understand what you do and take the next step?

Walk through these five checks

  • Service: can someone quickly tell what work you offer?
  • Area: does the site accurately name the places you serve?
  • Next step: is the call, message or quote button easy to find?
  • Readability: can you read the text and tap buttons without zooming or sideways scrolling?
  • Inquiry path: do links and forms work, and does the customer see what happens next?

Follow the main path all the way through. On your own site, label any test inquiry clearly and make sure it reaches the intended inbox. Avoid creating a real booking or sending a test to an unsuspecting customer.

Fix the clearest obstacle first

Hypothetical example: a cleaner genuinely serves both Lancaster and Palmdale, but the site only says “local.” Naming those cities makes the coverage clearer. If the quote button also leads to a missing page, fix that broken path first.

Check the confirmation message too. It should describe your real next step without promising a response time you can’t support.

Area: [pass / needs attention] — [next action]
Next step: [pass / needs attention] — [next action]
Readability: [pass / needs attention] — [next action]
Inquiry path: [pass / needs attention] — [next action]

Try one small step

Fix the item most likely to stop a customer, then repeat the same test.
